Sick day Makeup

I don’t know about you, but when I’m sick, the last thing I want to do is put on makeup. But then you get friends and coworkers telling you how terrible you look, as if you don’t already know that! I’ve been sick since vacation and yesterday I felt too terrible and tired to put any effort into my looks, and my coworkers did not hesitate to tell me I looked bad. So today, I put on a minimal amount of makeup so I could fake being ok.

I start by applying Jouer Matte Moisture all over my face to hide any redness using my trusted beautyblender. I have to be careful when applying to my nose and cheeks as I’m a little sunburned. My forehead has a bit of shine, so I dust some of the Le Metier de Beaute Pressed Powder on.  I’m not normally a fan of pressed powders, but this one looks pretty natural and does a good job controlling shine. I use the bourjois happy light concealer I received in an international sway to cover the bags under my eyes. I find this covers very well but there’s some creasing, does anyone have any advice for that?

For my cheeks I’ve been loving the stila convertible color in peony as it’s a beautiful color and since it’s a cream, it doesn’t accentuate my dry skin. Next, I add theBalm Mary Lou Manizer highlighter to my cheekbones since I’m trying to make my skin look dewy and healthy.

I complete my healthy look by adding the sugar and fawn colors (top left and top middle colors) from the stila not so nude palette. I love this palette because it has a variety of eye shadows, as well as an all over face color and convertible color. The colors all go well together, so you can mix and match as you please! Lastly, I curl my eyelashes and slap on some mascara (currently using this one, but this changes often).

What is your sick day makeup routine?

  • I haven’t tried any of the Stila shadows, except Kitten which I was not a fan of (although I’m in the minority there). Hope you feel better!

    • I personally don’t love kitten either- although it does make a lovely highlighter on cheek bones. You should try the color shadows sometime- I especially love the in the light palette

  • if i’m trying to wear as little as possible, i’ll usually just go for some tinted moisturizer, concealer, powder, mascara, and a tiny bit of brow pencil 🙂

    • I need to make my “as little as possible” routine less! After writing this, I realized I don’t change much from when I’m healthy and sick 🙂
