Mother’s Day Gift Guide

PR Samples. All opinions are my own.

My mom is the best person in the world. I know everyone always says that, but it’s true. All of my and my sibling’s friends would agree with that statement, and actually tell us so all the time. When my sister was in high school, one of her friends was a really picky eater and wouldn’t eat the food at school, so my mom would make her a sandwich ever day just to be sure she ate. When she has people over for meals, she learns about everyone’s dietary needs and makes special dishes for each person even if this means she spends all day in the kitchen (she once made 3 types of paella- one with shellfish and pork, one with chicken instead of pork, and one vegetarian). For the past 5 years, she has been her own mother’s caregiver while working full time, maintaining her home and garden, and still being there for her four kids.

She truly is the best person in the world, so this Mother’s Day I wanted to do something extra for her. We usually celebrate by having a big family brunch, but we never do gifts. Since my birthday is right around Mother’s Day, I usually tell her I’m her gift 🙂 This year, I want to give her everything she needs for some extra pampering. Keep reading to see what I’m filling her gift basket with.

My mom has very short curly hair (basically an afro) and is the person who first introduced me to hair oils when I was only 15. The PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Exceptional Transformation Trio contains a shampoo, mask and cream that nourishes and repairs each hair fiber to renew hair with ultimate softness, suppleness and shine.

She is very low maintenance when it comes to beauty, but always takes the time to properly style her hair, so I’m making sure to load her up with all the hair products she could possibly need (for a few months at least). The anti-frizz collection from Colorproof features the Crazy Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Radically Smooth Serum, and all three products are full of oils to de-frizz and smooth hair.

Once the hair is clean and moisturized, she will need a finishing spray to make sure the elements don’t turn her nearly tamed hair into a frizzy mess. The Macadamia Professional Humidity Finishing Spray is a lightweight finishing spray that shields hair from humidity while fighting frizz and maintaining style. Plus, Macadamia products smell so amazing.

My mom was blessed with beautiful skin, she hardly has any wrinkles! But there’s no reason she shouldn’t start preventing wrinkles with the help of some amazing skincare products. The Age Smart Skin Kit from Dermalogica contains 6 products for mature/prematurely-aging skin that help block biochemical triggers that lead to wrinkles, loss of elasticity and tone while firming and renewing skin. Dermalogica is a brand I really like, and I think my mom will enjoy using this trial set.

The final product I’m including in her gift basket is the multi-tasking Artis Elite Smoke Palm Brush, which can be sued to apply moisturizers, sunscreen or bronzing products, as well as foundation, blush and highlighters. For my low-maintenance mom, this is the perfect tool that she will be able to use for everything.
