I have started a new bi-monthly series, Meet the Blogger, as a way to learn about the blogger behind the blog. If you are interested in participating, get in touch with me through the contact page, and I will send you the information!
Today we will be chatting with the lovely Sarah from the beauty blog, alisvolatpropriss. In addition so writing about all things beauty, Sarah also posts on fashion and, my favorite, food! Her recipes all look delicious and I can’t wait to try some of them out! Her blog is amazing and definitely worth checking out. Don’t forget to stop by and say hello to her!
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan but very recently I’ve moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado which I’m pretty excited about! I had never been here before moving so if you live here or have visited, please let me know some of your favorite places around here.
Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I am a self diagnosed makeup lover. For much of my middle/high school days I truthfully wasn’t that into makeup, and then college came. I started getting more into beauty mainly from watching so many YouTube videos, and spending a lot of money (like a lot) on buying way more stuff then I needed. The reasoning behind me starting a blog was a mixture of personal interest, my friends telling me they think I’d be a good blogger, and I also thought perhaps if I blog about what I buy I won’t feel as guilty for spending so much money. I think a lot of bloggers have that theory, which is totally fine! Due to my love of makeup, my blog mainly centers around beauty related posts so hauls, reviews, makeup looks but I also do fashion, lifestyle, and baking. Aside from creating post for my own blog, I also love baking, photography, and reading other blogs. I am also pretty addicted to social media (especially Instagram). Some of my favorite things are pugs, pasta (I could eat it everyday) and most importantly Jesus!
How did you first get into blogging?
As I’ve just mentioned some of it was due to personal interest but it really started after a lot of friends said they’d read my blog if I ever created one. So thanks to my friends for unknowingly helping me find what is now a big passion of mine!
Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
Hopefully people are still reading and enjoying my blog in 5 years. I also hope to still feel inspired to write content that I enjoy putting together. I’ve heard many stories about people who start to feel like they have to blog, it becomes a necessity and not so much a fun hobby, I hope that doesn’t happen to me. Of course there will be times where creativity and passion may lack I just hope those phases don’t last long. I am always trying to grow my blog and better it, so it will be interesting to see where it is at in 5 years.
What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
Definitely the community. There are so many other bloggers out there, so many creative minds. It’s been amazing the amount of people that I’ve come in contact with all thanks to my blog. You get to meet (talk over the Internet) with people you may have never met if it wasn’t for blogging. The blogging community is also very supportive of each other. I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration and help from other bloggers.
If I gave you $100, what beauty items that you don’t own would you buy?
Oh goodness there are so many options… I’d probably buy a couple of cult beauty favorites that I don’t own such as Estée Lauder double wear foundation, I really want to try that and I’d also like to try the Anastasia Beverly Contour Kit.
What skin care or beauty steps do you religiously take time for?
No matter how tired or unmotivated I feel, I always make sure to clean my face morning and night that includes cleansing, toner, and moisturizer. My evening routine is a bit longer cause I have to remove my makeup and about 2-3 times a week I’ll use a mask. A skin care routine can seem rather time consuming, but it’s so important to take care of your skin.
What five fantastic products do you use now, and why do you love them.
NYX Vinyl Liquid Liner: this is a recent discovery but I love it. I haven’t worn eyeliner for a long time but i’ve started using it more not so long ago. Liquid eyeliner has also seemed messy to me, its probably just due to the fact I’m not that great at applying eyeliner, but this stuff is so easy to use. It glides on effortlessly and makes a smooth, clean line. The staying power of it is also very impressive.
Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer: this may be my favorite drugstore concealer. The coverage of this is amazing, it lasts a long time. I really haven’t found anything I dislike about this product except it seems to run out pretty fast.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray: I could sing so many praises for this product. This is the best setting spray that I have ever used. It helps my makeup set so nicely on my face and it also helps it to last all day. I look in the mirror 6+ hours after applying my makeup and it looks the same as I did when I applied it that morning.
Bioré baking soda face wash: this has done a great job at helping to minimize my pores and make my skin look and feel pretty good. I use this morning and night.
Makeup Revolution Fortune Favors The Brave Palette: this palette is amazing, it’s kinda dumb how much I love this thing. The shadows in the palette are all great, I don’t think there’s one I don’t like or won’t use and the pigmentation of them is incredible. It’s a very versatile palette you have neutral shadows, shimmers, and dark smokey colors so you’ll definitely be able to create a variety of looks.
What are two beauty blogs we should check out, and why do you love them?
My favorite more well known blogger is Amber Clark who is the creator of BarefootBlonde if you have never heard of here go and check out her blog and you for sure need to check out her Instagram. She just seems like such a sweet person and her family is so adorable. I don’t necessarily like to use the phrase but she is absolute goals!
My favorite small time beauty blogger at the moment is weardaisywent her blog posts are great, she seems to put a lot effort into her writing and she takes beautiful photos. Although she’s a smaller blogger at the moment, I predict that over time her blog will grow massively. I’m sure there are many people out there who would like her blog.
What is your favorite post to date? (include link)
I really like my post titled a letter to my future person which can be found here . This was for sure a more personal type of post as opposed to my typical beauty or fashion related content. This post didn’t receive much attention which I was fine with, I think what I like most about it and why it’s my favorite is because it will be fun to look back at it 2-3 years from now or when I have a significant other to see how true this letter is.
Do you prefer getting dressed up or being casual?
I’d describe my style as somewhere in between. I can typically be seen wearing a nicer top, anything that isn’t a graphic tee with a pair of leggings or shorts if it’s hot. I don’t necessarily like to put a lot of effort into my outfit choices but I want to make it look like I do.
What do you do in your spare time?
Sleep lol. I spend a lot of time watching YouTube videos. Like so many other people I love a lot of the British YouTubers like Zoella, Zalfie Deyes and Tanya Burr. I also like Kathleen Lights and Jaclyn Hill. Much of my spare time is also spent shopping and scrolling through my social media.
What is your favorite thing to do on a lazy weekend morning?
I love bake so sometimes I’ll do that or as I’ve just mentioned I like watching YouTube videos so I will typically spend the morning doing that. I’m also a major binge watcher of HGTV shows so I can spend hours doing that.
Where can we find you?
