Today we will be chatting with the gorgeous Julie from the blog, Scorse of Styles. Her fashion blog is full of outfit inspiration and clothing reviews. After reading through a few of her posts, I want to be BFFs with her- she is so honest and writes like she is chatting with her best friend. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Where are you from?

I am from Pittsburg, KS (small town America) but now I live in Kansas City!

Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

I am an RN but work in the corporate world designing software for clinicians. My boyfriend and I are dog parents to an adorable oversized fluff ball named Denver. While my career has been geared toward the medical field my real passion has always been fashion! I also love to pretend I have some interior design skills; the combination of these is what the blog is all about. With a few added “life hacks” that I have found to be very useful!

How did you first get into blogging?

I literally love the challenge of getting dressed. When I put together an outfit I feel empowered and confident! I am constantly looking on Pinterest and other fashion blogs for inspiration.   I have wanted to start my own blog for over a year now; however grad school kept taking up every minute of my spare time. Once I finished my MBA I decided there are no excuses and I have to give it a go. It is so fun! I can’t remember the last time I put in so many hours working on a project and felt so happy afterwards! To be able to share my style with other people is literally one of the most rewarding feelings

What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?

I wish I knew how good I was going to feel by putting myself out there. While it is still super scary to tell people that I have a “blog” for fear of getting a crazy look like ooh your one of the those girls, it is a feeling so good I can’t describe when someone I know tells me hey I saw your blog that’s really cool!   I also wish I knew just how much work goes into to putting a blog together! Lastly – Comparison really will kill you (ha or at least hurt your feelings!)

Where do you see your blog in 5 years?

I hope that in 5 years I can reach out to even more people and enhance my prospective on the fashion world.

What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

Meeting other people! From being a nurse to working with mainly software engineers it’s a rarity that I find someone else that shares my same interest in style and design. I love that this platform provides the ability to meet people I can relate to!

If I gave you $100, what beauty items that you don’t own would you buy?

Lash Serum–I have ity bity lashes and would love to not have to pile on the mascara just to look like I have even some lashes!

What five fantastic products do you use now, and why do you love them.

Oral B Pro Toothbursh –- Growing up in a family of dentist and being a nurse I cannot emphasize how important it is to brush your teeth. Your mouth is a direct opening into the rest of your body, problems here = problems on the inside too.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Kit –Like my lashes my eye brows are very faint. While the rest of my hair is brunette my eyebrows are nice and blonde L Thanks genetics. I love the brush and powder of these as they allow for a natural look that I can easily control.

Bareminerals tinted primer –I love this because it is light and keeps my face from getting oily all day. If you want heavier coverage you can always layer. And it has sunscreen in it, which a MUST.

Tarte- Lights, Camera, Lashes –As mentioned before my lack of lashes isn’t the most appealing look. This mascara is amazing it gives me volume and length! Best of all it doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Rimmel London lip color – kiss fatal –I had thought about trying a Kylie lip kit but didn’t like the thought of having to battle the other hundreds of thousands of people wanting to try it as well. I picked this up at the CVS and it is so good. It last all day. Easy application. DOES NOT DRY OUT MY LIPS!!! I could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner and this stuff would still be on.

Malibu Tan Hemp Self Tanner –I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE the smell of self-tanners. I have tried soo many and the one that works the best and doesn’t have the heavy smell of a self-tanner is the hemp self-tanner. You can only find this at Walmart, but I’ll make a special trip just for it because it is that good. I have also learned to put a little essential oil in my self-tanner to combat the evil scent!

What is your favorite post to date?

White Denim Debacule

Do you prefer getting dressed up or being casual?

Tricky question! I kind of love both! To me there is nothing more fun than taking the time to get dolled up and sliding into a snazzy outfit! However this doesn’t work for every day.

What do you do in your spare time?

I used to not be able to answer this because between full time work and full time school there was only laundry and grocery shopping. But no I can happily say I blog and hang out with my friends/nieces. I also enjoy reading; I’m always on the hunt for an encapsulating book.

What is your favorite thing to do on a lazy weekend morning?

As a teachers daughter there is no such thing as sleeping in. My boyfriend can begrudgingly attest that once 7 am hits I am at top speed! I would say my favorite thing on weekend mornings is to drink my coffee slowly, round up the laundry, and make a list for what I want to get done that weekend.
