I was in NYC a few weeks ago for a work event, and while I was there I made a point of going to the Birchbox store. I go to NYC every couple months with my husband to visit family, but we’ve never had time to go. This was my first time being there without him, so I knew I had to go! First I just walked around admiring all the products and brands sold there- my favorites include Jouer, LOC and Liz Earle. Then I went to the BYOB station to check out the samples before finally deciding to do it. The samples are divided by category: skincare, makeup, haircare, bath & body and fragrance, and you are supposed to choose one product from each category. However, you’re allowed to double up on a category just not the same product. I got two skincare products and skipped the fragrance one. Additionally, they had a travel candle as an extra add on, so I actually got 6 products!
NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil (RV $5.65): I love the Caudalie body oil and often hear it compared to the Nuxe oil so I had to see for myself. Since this multi-use oil can be used on face, body or hair, I may be able to get away with just traveling with one oil.
Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator (RV $5.66): This is similar to the derma E microdermabrasion scrub I love so much, and it’s perfect for travel. In fact, I had a sample with me when I was in NYC and was afraid I would run out before my next trip, so I’m so happy to have to back up! This is a favorite of mine because it leaves my skin looking radiant and clear after each use.
BioRepublic Skincare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask (RV $4.83): I really liked the cucumber mask I received in my November Birchbox, so I was excited to see this as an option. This is a moisturizing and plumping mask which is perfect for when winter finally comes and my skin has a hard time dealing with the dry weather.
Macadamia Professional™ Style Extend Dry Shampoo (RV $7.50): I am a big fan of the hair oil from Macadamia oil but less so of the shampoo and conditioner , so I was curious to see where dry shampoo falls on the spectrum. Reviews say it works great on dark hair which is already a plus in my book.
I had a really fun time at the store and with the ladies at the BYOB station. I paid $15 for the box, and got $52.64 worth of products I’ll actually use. I’m very happy with the box I created, and would definitely recommend it for anyone in the area. I’m sure I will go back in a few months, need to give some time so the samples can be changed out 🙂
