Brand Spotlight: Laura Mercier

Laura Mercier was the first high end beauty brand I ever tried. I still remember the first time I was introduced to this line. I was inSan Francisco with a friend of mine and her mom when I was a sophomore in high school for a girl’s weekend. We went into Bloomingdale’s for some shopping and there was a Laura Mercier representative offering to give free makeovers. My friend and I both very excitedly signed up and got our makeup done, and did not leave empty handed! I don’t remember anything else I bought that weekend (it was over 10 years ago!), but I remember what I got from LM that day. That was the day I first discover, and I never looked back. In addition to the TM, I got a blush stick, foundation primer, and caviar eyeshadow stick. LM has remained one of my favorite brands, and I go to them for everything.
Face Products: One of LM’s most popular products is the tinted moisturizer. I loved the TM when I owned it and even repurchased it a few times. It’s lightweight with buildable coverage, and it has SPF to protect your  skin from the sun. I also a love their loose setting powder. I keep testing other products to see if there’s another great one, but I keep going back to this one because no other one compares. I first got a sample of it from Sephora and have since bought two full sizes. You have to use a very light amount to avoid having a white ghost face, but it does wonders to reduce oil and shine. I also bought this amazing finishing brush to apply the powder and it’s the best brush I own- it applies powder in a thin, even layer and it’s so soft so it feels very nice to use. Another must-try face product are the Shimmer Blocs. These are not for everyone, but if you like shimmer, this is a must-try! The shimmer blocs contain 4 light-reflecting colors that blend together seamlessly to give an allover healthy glow. I’ve also found you can use the individual colors as an eyeshadow or highlighter.

Eye Products: I sampled the eyeliner in Birchbox last year and have since bought a set of five colors from Sephora. The eyeliners are perfect because they are soft and blendable, but they also have a really intense color that lasts all day. I can do an entire look with just the eyeliner and still  look like a put in a lot of effort and time. Plus, they come in a range of colors to suit any skin tone or look. I have recently been loving Violet, Slate and Black Gold as they’re different than your normal black and add a nice hint of color when hit just right by the sun.

Lip Products: LM’s lipglosses and lipsticks are not to be missed! I am picky when it comes to lipgloss as I don’t want anything sticky and I want color. The lip glace is just that- they are not sticky, and glide one easily. The color is actually buildable which is rare for a gloss. There is a sweet vanilla scent, but that fades quickly. The  lipsticks are also amazing- they are creamy, moisturizing and long lasting. It comes in a wide variety of colors so you’re sure to find one that suits your skin tone and mood.

In addition to makeup, LM also makes luxurious bath and body products as well as skincare. I have been lusting after the facial oil after testing it in store- the rose scented oil left my skin so smooth and plump after just one use, I can only imagine what regular use will do! The bubble baths all smell amazing and I love the little honey dipper it comes with to dispense the bubbles into the bath.

In summary, I love the whole LM line and continue to try her new stuff. The products are all very high quality and definitely worth the price. What LM products do you swear by?

  • Great brand summary! I’ve not delved too much into Laura Mercier, just a few products here and there (Secret Brightening Powder and the Caviar Sticks). I really tried to find a match for myself from her Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide foundation but for the life of me, I could NOT fina a suitable match. I do really want to buy one of her holiday palettes – they’re so well reviewed and sell out quickly. Maybe this year I will! 🙂

  • I need to give a try to Laura Mercier lips glosses. I like the fact that they are buildable.
