When I think of California beauty, I immediately think of the laid-back nature of Southern California surfer chicks- effortless, natural and simple. One brand that perfectly encompasses that style is the LA-based brand, Jouer Cosmetics. Jouer’s formulations are filled with great skincare ingredients and come in effortless colors, so no matter what you chose, the colors, formulas and packaging are beautiful, and good for you. As Christina Zilber, the founder of Jouer says, “Jouer is beauty with skincare included.”

From the first Jouer  product I tried, I was instantly hooked. The packaging is simple and sleek, and comes in an ingenious snap and click system so that you can build your own palette with your favorite products! Between Black Friday deals and their subscription service, I have been able to try everything from their tinted moisturizer, blushes & bronzers, eyeshadows and lipsticks. Out of the 20+ products I’ve used, I’ve only been disappointed once and it seems that product was a miss for most people and they no longer sell it.

So, which products are worth it?

Cheek Products (blush, bronzer, highlighter):

The cheek products (bronzer, blush and highlighters) come in both powder and cream varieties and I’ve tried them all. Like all of their products, the colors are sheer enough to not be overwhelming but also easy to build up to your desired color. They also blend wonderfully. I love the idea of a cream face products as cream products are so easy to blend and I find they always look more natural.

Eyeshadows (Powder or Cream):

I have both powder and cream eye shadows from Jouer and I love them all for one simple reason: the colors are so easy to wear, they can be worn  either alone or mixed together and mixing together is a no-brainer because the colors all look great together. The cream shadows tend to be light, shimmery colors that adds a wash of color that can also be used as a base for a more detailed look. The powder shadows have a really nice formulation that allows them to blend seamlessly together.

Moisture Tint:

The matte moisture tint was the first product I tried from the brand and it immediately turned me into an addict. The lightweight formula doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, yet it still manages to cover imperfections while looking (and feeling) natural. Depending on how my skin looks, I sometimes add a second layer to certain places (specifically my cheeks), and it still doesn’t look caked on which is amazing.  I also feel like this is actually good for my skin, because it has SPF (although that could just be me being crazy)!

Lip Products:

I own lipsticks, lip glosses and lip sheers from them and all are great. The lipsticks adds just enough color without being too in your face, which is exactly what I look for in lip colors. They’re moisturizing and last for about 6 hours. The lip sheers are great because they are very moisturizing and provides a sheer wash of color. Unfortunately during my coast-to-coast move I lost the coral one, Lelani, so I can’t speak about the brighter ones.

Have you tried any Jouer products? Which are your favorites?
