While browsing my feed the other day, I came across a post by Lauren from Styled by Lauren about blogger enabled purchases. It really got me thinking about products I’ve bought based on blogger reviews. Anytime I’m considering a purchase, I read blogger’s posts in order to validate my purchase. More often then not, I end up reading about, and buying, things I had no intention of buying! I went through my makeup back and found 4 blogger hype purchases that I use regularly, and one that I don’t use nearly enough.
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. Blogger after blogger raved about this and the luminizing tint and seeing as that I love lightweight foundations and tinted moisturizers, I just had to get this. And I’m so glad I did. It’s the perfect tinted moisturizer that covers all imperfections and can be built up for extra coverage. I apply it with my beauty blender and am probably only half way through a tube I’ve been using for about 4 months now. I will definitely be repurchasing this when I run out.
TheBalm Mary Lou Manizer. I bought this without even really knowing what a highlighter was or how to use it! Therefore, I’m not the most knowledgable person on the highlighter front, but I love a light dusting of this on top of my cheekbones and in the corner of the eyes. It’s a beautiful champagne color that can also be used for eyeshadow.
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil. Everyone raves about the Milk color as an eyeshadow base, so this is a bit as a cheap since I have it in the Yogurt color. It is such an easy way to quickly add a swipe of color without the hassle of using a brush. Plus, the color lasts all day. The pencils are not travel friendly though, the lid comes off leaving your pencil uncapped in your makeup bag, leaving it vulnerable to bacteria and damage.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara. It’s no secret that I’m a mascara junkie. So I had to have the mascara that seemed to be a blogger favorite. This mascara definitely lives up to the hype- it separates lashes while lengthening them and also allows them to hold a curl. One of my biggest issues with mascaras is that my curl doesn’t last, so this truly is the best mascara out there. It is a pain to get off, but that just means you have to use a second swipe of remover which is no big deal.
Hourglass Ambient Powder Lighting, Diffused Lighting. This was such a popular item, it was very hard to get my hands on, especially during the Sephora 15% sale. I was finally able to get it after stalking the site day after day. I’m sad to say I just don’t reach for it often. I’ve used it a handful of times, and my skin looked nice after using it but nothing special. I was expecting much more from it so I’ve been disappointed.
What products have you bought based on blogger hype, and was it worth it?
