The 4 Best Foundations for Every Skin Type

I am a foundation junkie- I rarely leave the house without something. My skin isn’t bad per se, I don’t have tons of acne or scarring, but I have an uneven skin tone and I feel much more comfortable with a full face. Therefore, I am extremely picky when it comes to my base product- I don’s use powder products as they cling to dry spots too much but I don’t like anything too heavy that makes me look like a clown. Over the past year, I have settled on these 4 foundations that I swear by.

Marcelle BB Cream: I got this as a sample in  Birchbox and loved it so much, I traded for as many as I could get my hands on. It’s the perfect lightweight cream to wear in the summer/warmer months when you just want a bit of coverage. It has light reflecting particles that when swatched I thought for sure would be too sparkly, but when applied all over my face, it gave it a lit-from-within and dewy look.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation: I’ll start by saying this has a strong fruity scent that may bother you if you’re sensitive to scents. It does go away shortly after applying it so it doesn’t bother me. I use this one when I want coverage but still to look airbrushed. I wasn’t kidding when I said I don’t like heavy coverage- out of these 4 foundations, this one provides the most coverage but it is still light/medium coverage.

Glossier Skin Tint: This is the newest addition to my collection and in the few short months they I’ve had it, it’s already worked its way onto my favorite list. I’ve worn this alone or under a tinted moisturizer and love it either way. It is very thin, watery almost, but that doesn’t prevent it from covering imperfections. And the texture means you can’t even feel it on! This is the easiest of them all to apply since it’s hard to overdo it and I find there’s no need to blend. On true no-makeup days, this is my go-to, otherwise I use it as a base for a base.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint: This is definitely my most used but only because it’s the only one with SPF. It has a mousse-like texture so it’s the heaviest of the 3 but the coverage is rally sheer and buildable. I generally apply it all over my face and add a little more on problem areas, such as my nose and cheeks. This shade (chamomile) is getting a bit too dark for me for winter, but I’m running low so should probably pick up a new one anyway. I opted for the matte over the luminizing because I found the LMT to be a bit too shimmery for me, and the MMT one didn’t leave my face dry and cakey which was my main concern with the MMT.

What are your favorite foundations? I’m always on the lookout for new ones to test.

I’ve heard so much about the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint – I need to get my hands on that in 2017!

Both the Marcelle BB cream and the Jouer Matte Moisture tint are great if you like less coverage, but the Jouer provides more coverage and is more buildable. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts!

You need to try both, I love them both for different reasons!

Love this post. I am also obsessed with foundations, I’ve been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear for 2 years now but have just discovered Primark’s foundation and it has such full coverage and it’s £2.50! So cheap, would highly recommend x
